About Us

American Safety Associates of Colorado

Our specialty is to provide firefighters with gear that fits properly and options that make their gear work for them. American Safety Associates of Colorado has dedicated 32 years to serving firefighters with a personal touch. Generally, firefighters are measured and the gear is ordered and created to provide a semi-custom fit.

Your safety as firefighters (and first-responders) is important to us and our goal is to provide the gear and accessories you need. Personal service and a commitment to do our best to serve your department are primary concerns for us.

Fire Protective Clothing with a Personal Touch

In 1975, Carol Neal took the leap to open her own business. It began as a tool to educate people about fire safety and introduce them to the various types of smoke detectors. Part of the program included inviting the local fire departments to demonstrate fire safety at those meetings - showing how to use fire extinguishers and have escape plans...

Soon after, Carol had the opportunity to design and promote a new line of bunker gear - that she was instrumental in addressing the concerns of firefighters - at that time, the lack of knee pads, pockets too small, and the placement of corduroy collars on coats. She addressed those concerns and even made the move to include shoulder padding for cushioning the airpack straps' impact on the shoulders.

The ideas were revoluntionary in the early 1980's and soon, the other manufacturers had to add the types of features that Carol had introduced and insisted were necessary.

43 Years Serving Firefighters June 2018 marks the beginning of the 43rd year for American Safety Associates of Colorado! We've grown up with the firefighters and salute the incoming generations of fire heroes.

Family Business Robin Neal, Carol's daughter has been part of the business since the start. Her role has changed and grown over the years and she now serves as Operations Manager. Her specialties include computer operations, purchasing, and customer service.

A Glimpse Back For several years, early in the business, Carol sold fire trucks and ambulances for Emergency One.

The Future American Safety continues to provide service for Colorado fire departments. As products change with technical improvements and design improvements, we will strive to provide the products and service to best match the needs of our customers.
